Mr. Jones is very happy today. Today his boy, little Tom will receive his first holy communion. He had been waiting for this day ever since Tom got baptised.
As Tom gets in the line, Mr. Jones jumps out of bench with a digital camera. He makes a few clicks, capturing moments in his camera. A wave of divine joy passes through him as Tom receives the communion.
“May I go and see some friends?” asked Tom after the Holy mass.
“Okay Tom”, replied Mr. Jones, “but be quick.”
Mr. Jones, along with his wife, proceeded towards the car.
Tom was being congratulated by his friends. Tom followed Jim, who lived in the suburbs a little far from the Cathedral. On turning back to return to his parents, Tom realised that he was lost.
“I am getting worried about Tom”, said Mrs. Jones as she looked into her watch. It had been half an hour since her child had gone.
“All right! I will search for him”, replied Mr. Jones.
After half an hour of tedious search, Mr. Jones returned to his wife empty handed with sweat and despair on his face.
“He is not in the church premises”, he said.
“WHAT!” Mrs. Jones exclaimed.
She started crying.
“Let’s keep faith in God. Let’s go and pray”, she uttered.
They went inside the cathedral again and prayed together, “O God, you are the good shepherd. You always keep us protected and safe. Now, our little Tom is lost. Please bring him back to us. Don’t let a sheep lose its way.”
They had barely finished the prayer when a sound came, “Mother.
It was little Tom. Standing beside him was the priest who had given him the communion.
Lesson: God is Great, seek shelter unto him and you will never be harmed.
